Meet Josh Sines
A common-sense, community-first Republican focused on results for our communities.
Lifelong Resident • Eastern Tech Graduate • Truck Driver • Farmer • Community Advocate
I was born and raised in Middle River and am proud to be a graduate of Eastern Technical High School. At 18, I went to work at Bethlehem Steel’s Sparrows Point plant, where I stayed until its closure in 2012. Those years taught me the value of hard work, responsibility, and standing shoulder to shoulder with the people who keep our communities going.
After the mill closed, I continued making a living the same way I always have, by working hard as a truck driver and farmer. I know what it means to put in long days, raise a family here, and fight for the community we call home.
Standing Up for Our Communities
For more than 20 years, I’ve been a strong voice for our neighborhoods. As President of the Essex Middle River Civic Council, I’ve worked to improve Baltimore County’s growth policies and protect local communities from reckless overdevelopment.
I helped lead efforts to strengthen the Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance so overcrowded schools can block new development when necessary. I’ve fought for more parks and open space, including the county’s purchase of the former Crane Power Plant site, and I’ve consistently advocated for conservation easements and responsible planning.
My own property is proudly protected by a conservation easement with Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, because I believe protecting our environment starts at home.
A True Waterfront Advocate
Growing up on the water helped shape who I am. I still spend my free time fishing and crabbing, and I know firsthand how important our rivers, creeks, and open spaces are to our way of life.
District 8 is a true waterfront district, and I’m committed to preserving what makes it special while also bringing much-needed revitalization to our neighborhoods. Strong leadership means finding the right balance: protecting our natural resources while supporting smart, responsible growth and investment where it’s needed most.
I’m committed to listening, showing up, and delivering results for every community in District 8.
