PriorIties
for District 8
Responsible Growth & Overdevelopment Oversight
New development must match the capacity of our communities. I’ll push back on projects that overload our schools, roads, and public resources. Growth should be smart, planned, and respectful of the neighborhoods we already have, not rushed or forced onto communities that cannot support it.
Ensuring Growth Pays for Infrastructure
When development occurs, it must contribute to the roads, schools, public safety, and stormwater systems needed to support it. I’ll support policies that ensure growth helps fund the infrastructure and community improvements required in the areas where it happens.
Public Safety & Emergency Services
Safe neighborhoods are the foundation of strong communities. I’ll support hiring more police officers, expanding take-home car programs, increasing EMS staffing, and advocating for new and modern firehouses. Public safety must always remain a top priority.
Protecting Rural & Waterfront Areas
Our land and waterways define District 8. I’ll fight to preserve open space, protect our rivers and creeks, and advance conservation efforts that protect the natural beauty and environmental health of our community for future generations.
Revitalizing Urban Communities
Essex, Middle River, and White Marsh deserve real investment and opportunity. I’ll work to attract good-paying jobs, support local businesses, and bring responsible redevelopment that strengthens our commercial corridors and improves quality of life.
Keeping District 8 Affordable for Seniors & Working Families
Rising taxes and costs are forcing longtime residents out of the communities they helped build. I’ll propose property tax relief measures to help seniors stay in their homes and support policies that keep District 8 affordable for working families. Our neighbors should be able to retire and remain in the community they love.
Investing in Schools & Infrastructure
Our students and families deserve better. I’ll fight for the classrooms, roads, and public facilities our area has been denied, and make sure growth never outpaces the infrastructure needed to support our communities.
Community-First Leadership
District 8 needs fair representation and a strong voice on the County Council. I’ll show up, listen to residents, and fight to make sure our communities receive the resources and attention they deserve.
Josh Sines:
Rooted in Conservative Values
I’ve been a conservative my whole life, and those values have shaped who I am and how I’ll lead. For me, it’s about fiscal responsibility, accountability, and protecting the traditions and freedoms that make our communities strong. As a Republican, I’ll bring those principles to work every day on the County Council.
Fiscal Responsibility
Families balance their budgets, government should too. I’ll fight wasteful spending, demand transparency, and make sure every tax dollar is used wisely to deliver real results for our communities.
Lifelong Conservative
I was raised to believe in hard work, personal responsibility, faith, and family. Those values guide me every day and will shape every decision I make as your County Councilman.
Protecting Our Way of Life
From keeping taxes low and neighborhoods safe to protecting rural lands and waterways, I’ll work to preserve the character of our communities while building a future our children and grandchildren can be proud of.
